Born and raised in Victoria’s tranquil but somewhat mundane northeast town of Wodonga, Zack Furst knew early on that the temperate countryside wasn’t going to assuage his ambitious hunger.
Today, skateboards and photographs hang from a wall above a sideboard displaying a collection of old film cameras in his Flemington apartment. You’d never guess he’s the passionate chef who won Time Out’s Hot Talent award in 2018.
After beginning his career at the age of 16 at Beechworth’s Provenance, he moved on to become sous chef at Attica before moving on to Smith Street’s ‘Ides’, under the leadership of one of Australia’s most renowned young chefs, Peter Gunn.
