A woman who allegedly snapped off car windscreen wipers in a months-long campaign of vandalism in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has been charged with 15 counts of malicious damage.
The 43-year-old is said to have carried out the attacks between July and September in Randwick, costing motorists about $2000.
Police say they were called to an incident on Fern Street, Randwick, at 10:45am yesterday, where a witness had reported a woman damaging cars.
They approached the woman and cautioned her, but on further inspection discovered six more damaged cars in the neighbourhood – all with wiper blades either bent or snapped off.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command took the woman to Maroubra police station where she allegedly admitted to causing similar damage to other cars in the area over a period dating back to July, most of them on Coogee Street, Randwick.
The woman, who lives in Randwick, has been charged with 15 counts of Destroy or Damage Property and granted conditional bail. She is due to appear before Waverley local court on October 16.
