Running events attract participants of varying abilities with a range of reasons for running.
Last weekend Sydney friends Millie Harris and Milly Malone participated in The Canberra Times Australian Running Festival. The girls ran in the half marathon category, smashing the 21.1km in under two hours.
While the pair took part for their own health and fitness, it was just as important to them to raise funds and awareness for the non-profit organisation Beyond Blue.
Raising $2090 for the cause, the girls say it was not about the money.
“As long as we get people to talk about their struggles and to not feel ashamed by them, thats our goal,” Millie told Hatch, when reporter Montana Duncan accompanied the girls to Canberra.
