A man and woman pretended to be interested in buying a car before stealing it at gunpoint in Sydney’s south, police said today.
The couple arranged to meet at a business on Woodfield Boulevard in Caringbah, in the Sutherland Shire, to look at a white Nissan Patrol that had been advertised for sale.
But while test-driving the car at 8pm on Tuesday, the man pulled out a gun and told the car’s owner to get out, before driving off.
Both carjackers were described as white. The man is said to be aged between 25-30, about 175-180cm tall with a solid/stocky build and unshaven. The woman was described as aged between 20 and 25, about 165 to 170cm tall with a thin build and fair/pale skin. She had shoulder length brown or dark colour, dyed hair.
Detectives today released pictures of the car and have appealed for information from the public. They say the car has a NSW plate, registration BF47SC.
They also shared CCTV footage which shows a dark coloured Toyota Rav 4 driven next to the stolen Nissan Patrol shortly after the offence.
Investigators believe the vehicles could have possibly travelled together to the mid-North Coast and are seeking further information from the public.
Anyone who may be able to identify the pair involved or may have any information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au
