Drag racing, motor racing that covers multiple categories of vehicles is an exciting but expensive hobby for some Australians.
Ally Stewart, local drag-racer described the scene as a community where racers support one another despite being in competition.
“It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s a family atmosphere, it’s a community, it’s a home away from home,” said Ally.
Born and bred alongside the racing community, Ally began her racing career 12 years ago after her father passed away.
Ally and her sister took over driving their dad’s Austin A40 ute, dubbed ‘The Oztin” for a few years before a family friend offered Ally a drive in his dragster.
